Many Faces of Tuscany: Day 1
Welcome to Tuscany: Discovering Val d’Orcia
Arrival in Italy. We pick you up at Florence Airport (FLR) or at the other pickup point previously agreed. Approximately two-hour van transfer to the heart of Val d’Orcia.
Hotel Check-in, and after a light lunch you have two options, few hours to recover from the fatigues of the trip and relax in the hotel’s or setup and test your bike with a ride with our guides.
Is a bike paradise from the beginning. We pedal the slopes of the Val d’Orcia to Pienza (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Renaissance city of the Pope. Late afternoon the vacation briefing is the chance to meet the whole group of guests and the guides.
When darkness is coming: Antica Fattoria del Grottaione – Castel del Piano.
At sunset, welcome aperitif and diner in a delicious Tuscan trattoria (Slow Food awarded). The setting is fascinating, with exposed stone, terracotta floors, and well-finished mise en place, while the terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia is spectacular. The chef’s cuisine aims high, reinterprets traditional dishes with pleasant personal ideas. Excellent Tuscan and international wine selection.Signature dishes: Tuscan crostini starter (chicken liver, anchovy, capers) – Peposo with Maremma breed meat.
