Piedmont Gravel Bike Tour: Day 1

Welcome to the Italian Western Alps

Daily Agenda

Arrive in Italy, we pick you up at Milan Malpensa Airport (IATA: MXP, ICAO: LIMC) or Turin Airport (IATA: TRN, ICAO: LIMF) or at the other pickup points previously agreed.  Approximately two-hour van transfer to hotel in a small village of the Italian West Alps. 

Hotel check-in, and after a light lunch two options: few hours to recover from the fatigues of the trip and relax in the hotel or set up the bike and go riding in the mountains (please see below). Late afternoon the vacation briefing is the chance to meet the whole group of guests and the guides. The roads we travel on this holiday are the old gravel roads, built in the 1700s and 1800s for the military control of the Italian / French Alpine border.

At sunset, we will go in the Langhe (UNESCO World Heritage since 1994) for a welcome drink and a dinner in our favorite trattoria the Locanda dell’Arco (@SLOW FOOD awarded) where you can enjoy the delicious “Langarola” cuisine accompanied by Barbaresco wine. Signature dishes: Tajarin (thin noodles) with meat ragout or white truffle – Roasted quail stuffed with liver pate and porcini mushrooms.
