Road to Matera Gravel Bike Tour: Day 1

Welcome to Apulia, leg loosner ride to Ostuni

At your arrival in Italy, we pick you up at Bari Airport (IATA: BRI, ICAO: LIBD) or at the other pickup locations previously agreed. A Van transfer  (approximately one hour) will take you to the “Masseria” hotel. Hotel check-in, and after a light lunch, two options,  few hours to recover from the fatigues of the trip and relax in the “Masseria” or set up the bike and go for a ride to the white city of Ostuni through the centuries-old olive groves of the Apulian coast. 
Late afternoon the vacation briefing is the chance to meet the whole group of guests and the guides.

The “White Cities” are a characteristic of Puglia, they are ancient cities (2/3 century BC) built in a raised position on the hills and painted white to mitigate the summer heat. We will visit the oldest one, Ceglie Messapica where we will be welcomed at dinner by Lillino.
He is the host who more than any other studies and proposes traditional Apulian cuisine. It will be a dinner full of intense, ancestral flavors that fully represent the territory. A cellar stocked with old vintages will be the right accompaniment to dinner at this Michelin a Slow Food prized Osteria.
Signature dishes: Wheat pie with Caciocavallo Cheese and Murgia’s Truffle – Apulian sheep cooked in a terracotta wood-fired oven.
